After Chicago dominated the headlines on Thursday and Friday, Dale Tallon is trying to one up his former team today. Earlier in the day the Panthers made deals for Jiri Hudler of the Calgary Flames, and Teddy Purcell of the Edmonton Oilers. Completing the trifecta of deals, Tallon adds defenceman Jakub Kindl from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for a 6th round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry draft. The Wings will retain 15% of Kindl’s salary.

Jakub Kindl traded to the Florida Panthers
Kindl, 29, is in the third year of a four-year deal worth $9.6 million (AAV $2.4 million). He was waived by the Red Wings earlier in the season, with no takers. Now with the Wings willing to take on part of the salary, and the Panthers looking to add some defensive depth for the playoff push he has become a more attractive option for the Panthers.
Kindl has put up two goals and six points in 25 games for the Red Wings this season. The Wings first round pick, 19th overall, in the 2005 NHL entry draft has played parts of seven NHL seasons. In 273 career NHL games, he has 16 goals and 52 assists for 68 career points.
Kindl has played 19 playoff games in his career with one goal and five points.
The Czech Republic native has represented his country at the World Championships and World Juniors.
