Welcome to WWE Fastlane, which for some inexplicable reason has Eva Marie on the poster. To be fair, it makes more sense for her to be waving a flag for a stock car than wrestling in a ring.
Kickoff is tonight at 7PM EST with the show beginning at 8PM EST. As the final major event before Wrestlemania, the show is expected to make at least half the card a lot clearer for everyone to see. Who will be number one contender to face Triple H in the main event? Who will face The Undertaker in what could be his final match? Who gets to walk into Texas as Divas champion? Is John Cena’s Instagram page a giant cryptic riddle to explain the secrets of the future of the WWE? Predator, V, Reggie Dunlop and purple Undertaker? WHAT DOES IT MEAN!?
Probably nothing.
WWE Fastlane Kickoff
2 out of 3 Falls Match
United States Championship
Alberto Del Rio vs. Kalisto (c)
First Fall
Aaron, Jamie, Adam Contant and Ryan: Kalisto
Rich: Alberto Del Rio
Second Fall
Aaron, Rich and Adam Contant: Kalisto
Jamie and Ryan: Alberto Del Rio
Third Fall (if necessary):
Jamie, Rich, Adam Contant: Kalisto
Ryan: Alberto Del Rio
Winner
Aaron, Jamie, Rich: Kalisto
Ryan: Alberto Del Rio
Thoughts by Ryan Smith: With WWE launching a Cruiserweight tournament pretty soon, Kalisto will have his hands full. Alberto Del Rio however, has nothing going for him after this feud ends. He’s far away from the WWE World Heavyweight Championship picture, and the intercontinental title already belongs to a heel. This feud has been going on for a couple of months now, and excluding some kind of re-match on Raw or Smackdown, this should be the last match between these two. Alberto Del Rio will likely have some League of Nations help.
Six Man Tag Match
The Wyatt Family vs. The Big Show, Kane and The Ryback
Winners
Aaron, Jamie, Rich, Adam Contant and Ryan: The Wyatt Family
Who takes the pinfall/submission
Aaron: Kane
Jamie, Rich and Ryan: The Big Show
Adam Contant: The Ryback
Thoughts by Jamie Greer: The push for Braun Strowman continues here and he’s got three big guys to manhandle to show his physical dominance. I think Strowman will get the win doing something huge to the hugest guy in the match, the Big Show. Whether it’s his choke submission or putting him through the announce table, Strowman’s upwards trajectory is the main focus of this match.
Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch vs. Tamina Snuka and Naomi
Winners
Aaron, Rich, Adam Contant and Ryan: Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch
Jamie: Tamina and Naomi
Who takes the pinfall/submission
Aaron: Naomi
Jamie: Becky Lynch
Rich and Ryan: Tamina
Will there be a heel or babyface turn and who (leave blank if nobody):
Thoughts by Rich Laconi: Team B.A.D has no chance here. the other two wrestlers in this match, Sasha and Becky are both going to be headed for a triple threat match at Wrestlemania against Charlotte. Sasha has plained more of a tweener role, her attitude markedly less wholesome when held up against Becky’s exuberance and innocence. The faces can get the win here without any heat between the two at the title will be enough motivation for both of them to want to square off with each other.
Chris Jericho vs. AJ Styles
Winner
Aaron: Chris Jericho
Jamie, Rich, Adam Contant and Ryan: AJ Styles
Thoughts by Aaron Wrotkowski: While most would expect AJ Styles to pick up an easy win to finish this mini-feud (where The Miz had to create the majority of the heat for it), I am going to make a wild prediction that likely won’t come true that Seth Rollins will make his unexpected return and in order to stay heel, costs AJ Styles the match and sets up their showdown at Wrestlemania. I know, it’s more likely we get a babyface Rollins return at or after Wrestlemania, but I could see WWE preferring Rollins in the heel role.
WWE Divas Championship
Brie Bella vs. Charlotte (c)
Winner
Aaron, Jamie, Rich, Adam Contant and Ryan: Charlotte
Thoughts by Adam Contant: While it may seem like Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch got pushed aside for Brie Bella this month, it has ended up being a smart move on WWE’s part. Brie does have a lot of sympathy going into the match as a grieving sister and wife tormented by the callous champion. This also gives fans a bit of breathing room before the Banks showdown with Charlotte, which is the big money match in the minds of fans.
WWE Intercontinental Championship
Dolph Ziggler vs. Kevin Owens (c)
Winner
Aaron, Jamie, Rich, Adam Contant and Ryan: Kevin Owens
Thoughts by Rich Laconi: Owens just picked up the title, so I expect him to hang on to it against Ziggler. Dolph has gotten the upper hand over Owens recently which adds to this storyline instead of making it a meaningless title defense. However badly Ziggler could use a major victory like this, he will not be pushed afterwards. An Owens loss here makes him look bad at a time when he needs to continue building steam as the top working heel in the company.
WWE Fastlane Main Event
Triple Threat Match
Winner faces Triple H at Wrestlemania
Roman Reigns vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar
Winner
Aaron and Jamie: Dean Ambrose
Rich, Adam and Ryan: Roman Reigns
Who gets pinned/submitted
Aaron, Jamie: Roman Reigns
Rich and Ryan: Dean Ambrose
Adam Contant: Brock Lesnar
Who will interfere (if nobody, leave blank)
Aaron, Adam Contant and Ryan: The Wyatt Family
Thoughts by Adam Contant: While there are many great fan theories about how this could play out to the favour of either Brock Lesnar or Dean Ambrose, the truth of the matter is that WWE wants Roman Reigns vs Triple H at WrestleMania, and that’s what we’re going to get. If the rumours prove to be true, then we will also likely see The Wyatts interfere and take out Brock Lesnar, which I am hoping will allow Ambrose a break from his usual role of pin cushion, even the odds between Reigns and Lesnar, and then set things up nicely for Dallas.
