IN THE RED CORNER: Stepping in on short notice, Oliveira has put together the beginnings of an impressive run in the UFC winning his last three fights in the octagon. Most recently he defeated Piotr Hallmann by KO in the 3rd round. That wasn’t Oliveira’s first KO in the octagon, 9 out of his 13 wins have come from KO. One thing is for sure, this man is not afraid to stand in the pocket and throw down. With the new Reebok deal, the rankings are more important than ever, and a win against Cerrone could definitely get Oliveria to crack the rankings. This fight could turn out to be better than the original.
IN THE BLUE CORNER: Cerrone might be one of the most entertaining fighters to watch in the UFC, depending on which one of him shows up to fight. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Cerrone has a history of letting his mind get the best of him before he fights. He has openly talked about how sometimes he just doesn’t want to be there and you can definitely see it in his performance (just look at the Rafael dos Anjos fight). If the true “Cowboy” shows up, everyone is in for a treat. He throws to kill with every single punch, and since he is bumping up to welterweight for this fight, rest assure his power will be felt.
This Cowboy vs Cowboy showdown will be a main event that no one wants to miss. If the true Cerrone shows up, Oliveria will be in a lot of trouble. Cerrone’s Muay Thai speaks for itself and people (like Oliveria) who try to trade strikes with Cerrone usually end up being starched. If the Cerrone that fought dos Anjos shows up, rest assure that Olivera will walk away with the biggest win of his career and declare himself the only Cowboy of the UFC.
