Miami Dolphins 2015 Fantasy Football Recap

Coming into the 2015 season there was a lot of hype around the Miami Dolphins but they never seemed to put it all together. Here is a Miami Dolphins 2015 fantasy football recap

Coming into the 2015 season there was a lot of hype around the Miami Dolphins but they never seemed to put it all together. The Dolphins finished 6-10 which  landed them in last place in their division. Their skill position players still were usable for fantasy however, and some ended up having solid seasons in 2015. Let’s look at the Miami Dolphins 2015 fantasy football recap.

Miami Dolphins 2015 Fantasy Football Recap

Since being drafted by Miami in the 2012 NFL Draft, quarterback Ryan Tannehill has been a middle of the pack quarterback fantasy wise. The former Texas A&M Aggie finished the 2015 season with 4,208 yards and 24 touchdowns. He averaged 15 fantasy points per game, which was good enough to have him finished ranked 17th overall among quarterbacks this season. Tannehill’s biggest problem was being consistent this past season. He had five games of 20 more points, but he also had eight games of 15 or less fantasy points. With another year under his belt TanneHill should improve on his 2015 numbers, and is worth a middle too late round pick in your 2016 draft.

2015 was Lamar Miller’s best season of his career. In 2015 the former Miami Hurricane totaled 1,269 total yards and 10 total touchdowns for a total of 184 fantasy points. Miller averaged 11 points per game and finished as the sixth best running back this season. But, like Tannehill, his problem was consistency, and it didn’t help that Miller only had one game with 20 or more touches . The talented running back is a free agent this year andhe might sign with another team since the Dolphins have rookie running back Jay Ajaji waiting to be the featured back in Miami. Miller should be drafted in the third or fourth round whether he stays with Miami for signs with another team for the 2016 season. If Jay Ajayi takes over the featured running back role for Miami he should be targeted in the middle rounds of your draft in 2016.

Miami has one of the most talented and youngest receiving corps in the NFL. Leading the team was Jarvis Landry with 1,270 total yards and 5 total touchdowns. The former LSU Tiger finished the season ranked 15th among receivers and averaged 10 points per game in standard leagues. Landry is a better points per reception guy since he had 110 reception this past season. The dynamic wideout should be targeted in the fourth or fifth round of your 2016 draft next season. Miami’s next leading receiver was Rishard Matthews who totaled 662 yards and four touchdowns. Matthews was a nice deep threat during the season but was not a consistent option for fantasy football players. The former Nevada Wolf Pack receiver is worth a late round flyer in your 2016 fantasy draft. Rookie receiver DeVante Parker was invisible for most of the season, but in his last six games Parker totaled 491 yards and three touchdowns. The former Louisville Cardinal has the chance to become the leading receiver in Miami next season and he is my break out candidate for the 2016 season. Parker is worth a middle round draft pick in 2016, and he could end up being a major bargain for anyone who drafts him next season.

Last off season the Dolphins signed former Cleveland Browns tight end Jordan Cameron. Cameron has shown he has the skills to be a top tier tight end in the NFL but he has had issues with staying healthy. The former USC Trojan missed several games last season and, as a result, he was inconsistent and tallied only 386 receiving yards and three touchdowns. With Cameron’s skills he is still worth a late round flyer if you wait to draft a tight end in your 2016 draft.

If Tannehill takes the next step and improves on his numbers from 2015 the Miami Dolphins could have one of the most electric offenses in 2016. The big question is if Lamar Miller will return to Miami, or if Jay Ajayi will become the lead running back. Either way Miami’s skill position players are definitely players people should target in their 2016 draft.
