The Hamilton Tiger Cats have lost Erik Harris, another key piece to their puzzle today and another potential free agent to the New Orleans Saints in the NFL sources say. Harris was a linebacker for the Tiger-Cats and played for them for three seasons. In that time Harris played in 45 games recording 106 tackles. This was the word after many people via twitter have said.
Justin Dunk quotes on 3downnation.com that, “LB Erik Harris (@E_Harris_31) worked out for #Saints in New Orleans today – his only #NFL workout – and signed right after. #Ticats #CFL”.
This site being run by Hamilton’s own Drew Edwards who has covered the Ti-Cats for 8 years and reports for the Hamilton Spectator. If this is true the Ti-Cats are going to really have to step up their game in the free agent pool. This will free up some salary cap room, where the Ti-Cats are going to have to sign a big game. Losing Harris has but a strain on the Ti-Cats defence and could pose some potential problems.
The Tiger -Cats are yet to Sign big names like Bryan Hall, Ted Laurent and Justin Hickman. The free agent market opens up on February 9th, and it should be interesting to see what the Tiger-Cats do to fill this void in their secondary.
