It was an eventful night of Supercross racing in Oakland as the AMA SX Series traveled to the Overstock.com Coliseum.
What looked to be more-of-the-same domination that we have seen from Cooper Webb in the 250’s this season came to a spiralling downfall. Webb’s Yamaha died and did not re-fire, resulting in a DNF for Webb.
This left the door wide open for Monster Energy Kawasaki rider, Joe Savatgy, not only took the lead, but won the race and even took over the 250 West Class points.
Through four races (almost half the season) Savatgy has surprisingly taken the lead by two points in the West Series standings. It will be interesting to see if he can build off this momentum and use it to upset Webb once more.

Dungey Sweeps Night, KTM’s Double Podium
2016 points leader and 2015 AMA SX 450 Class Champion Ryan Dungey has dominated the season so far now winning three of the first four events. The Wheaties box cover athlete not only won his heat, but also earned the holes hot and win in the night’s feature event.
Also on the podium was Ken Roczen, the favorite to upset Dungey, who sits fourth in the points, and Dungey’s teammate Marvin Musquin.
P3 is Musquin’s best career finish, and he seems to be improving week after week. After finishing 14th in week one, he has rattled off three straight top tens.
Chad Reed earned another top five finish proving age is but a number and he sits in a tie for second place in the standings, problem is Dungey is building a large, large cushion.
