OTPP: Talking about the NHL All-Star Game with Puck Daddy's Josh Cooper; and More

Last Word on Sports is proud to present their hockey podcast, On the Powerplay with Ben and Dave. Join Ben Kerr and Dave Gove each week as they take a look around the Hockey World focusing on the big issues of the NHL and elsewhere.

We are happy to welcome Josh Cooper (@JoshuaCooper), an editor with Yahoo’s Puck Daddy Hockey Blog.  Josh lived in Nashville and covered the Predators for nine years which gives him a lot of insight into the location of this year’s festivities.  He also recently took the time to interview John Scott about going to the game and all the controversy surrounding it. All of this puts him in a unique position to talk about this year’s game and what to expect this weekend.

Dave and Ben look at the Skills Competition and the favorites to win the various events.  Could Jaromir Jagr win an event? Who is the favorite in the fastest skater?  What event will John Scott do? and can anyone beat Shea Weber in the hardest shot competition?

In other NHL news, the boys talk about Shawn Horcoff and his 20 game suspension for using PEDs.  Do they buy his explanation?  Is the punishment fair? How will it effect the surging Anaheim Ducks as they attempt to lock down a playoff spot.

Next up they attempt to answer the question if any Canadian Team will make the playoffs? Can the Canadiens end their slide and make a push? Can Vancouver take steps forward? What does Ottawa need to improve?

The boys also look at the latest incident involving Milan Lucic, and the one game suspension he gets for sucker punching Kevin Connaughton. Was it deserved? Is this a repeated pattern with Lucic? How does the slash play into things.

They also look at Aleksander Barkov’s new deal with the Florida Panthers, and Alexander Radulov’s contract in the KHL. What do these moves mean going forward in the hockey world.

All this and more as we go, On the Powerplay.
