The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed a top receiver in recently released fan favourite Weston Dressler. Winnipeg will now have a legitimate top receiver the 1st time in a while. Dressler was released by Saskatchewan a few weeks ago; the fan favourite had also been released earlier in his career to try his luck in the NFL, but returned to Saskatchewan.
This signing means a lot to Winnipeg. Last season Winnipeg had offence trouble when quarterback Drew Willy got hurt; Brian Brohm took over, then Matt Nichols. Dressler will add a legitimate all-star offensive weapon and a special teams weapon as well. Dressler should fit well into LaPolice’s offense as they worked together in Saskatchewan.

This means upcoming free agent Nick Moore probably won’t return, leaving Darvin Adams and Dressler to form a very good 1-2 punch for Willy or Nichols. Drew Willy is the expected starting quarterback, barring injury, and was very excited to hear the news of the Dressler signing.
Congrats brother @WestonDressler7. Can't wait to get started and have a big year with @Wpg_BlueBombers.#Believeinblue

This signing is big for head coach Mike O’Shea as well. With LaPolice in Winnipeg he knows his job is on the line and he must make the playoffs. Winnipeg’s offence will be improved with these two very good receivers; the are maybe one running back signing (Jerome Messam?) from having a contending team. There offensive line is strong with last year’s pick Sukh Chungh and free agent signing Stanley Bryant anchoring this line. They have a good quarterback in Drew Willy, and a potential starter and very good game manager in Matt Nichols. This Winnipeg team has a good shot to make the playoffs after this signing.

With their reliable defence, Winnipeg is good enough for the playoffs. They could arguably have made it in over B.C. last year if Willy had been healthy all year, and they didn’t have to use Brohm. It’s amazing that Brohm had been an NFL quarterback, when he could barely throw 10 yards in the CFL. But with Adams, Dressler, Willy, and a LaPolice-led offence, watch out in the West because the Blue Bombers are coming.
