Doug Pederson and the Eagles made another move after signing Zach Ertz to a contract extension yesterday. The team has now agreed to terms with tight end Brent Celek on a new contract that will keep him with the Eagles for the next three years. It keeps a veteran presence on the team, one that a few of the young guys look up to.

Celek was drafted by the Eagles in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He would then sign a four-year with the team in May of that year to begin his career with the team. The 2008 season saw Celek set franchise records for yards in a game with 131 in week 9. He also had 10 receptions in the 2009 NFC Championship game. His 19 catches during the 2008-2009 playoffs ranked third most in history among tight ends.
The tight end would have a breakout season in 2009 and earn himself a a six-year contract extension that would keep him with the team until after the 2016 season. His season featured 76 catches, 971 yards and 4 touchdowns. His 76 catches were the most in team history for a tight end. He was named to the 2009 USA Today All-Joe Team that season.
Celek came into the season ranked at the team’s #1 tight end, despite the recent production of Zach Ertz. Celek’s production did however drop during the 2015-2016 season. Despite only being targeting 35 times though, the tight end finished the season with 27 catches for 398 yards and 3 touchdowns, which tied for second on the team.
