Over the past few seasons the Tennessee Titans have not had much to offer in terms of fantasy players. That all changed in 2015 when the Titans drafted Marcus Mariota out of the University of Oregon with the second overall pick in the 2015 draft. They also selected wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham out of the University of Missouri, and running back David Cobb out of the University of Minnesota. The Titans failed to put together a winning season in 2015 but they seem to be heading in the right direction, including fantasy football wise.
2015 Tennessee Titans Fantasy Football Recap
Rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota showed why he was a Heisman Trophy winner in college and why he was the number to overall pick in the 2015 draft. He passed for 2,818 yards and 19 touchdowns and also rushed for 252 yards and two touchdowns in his rookie season. He finished with 210 fantasy points and averaged 17.5 points per game in 2015. The talented signal caller did miss four games this season but when he played he was electrifying. The former Heisman Trophy winner also had 41 receiving yards and a touchdown. With his rookie year under his belt and the Titans getting better him weapons, Mariota should be in for a big 2016 season. The former Oregon Duck should be targeted in the middle rounds of your fantasy football draft in 2016.
Since Chris Johnson left, the Tennessee Titans have been in search of a star running back for the last few seasons. In 2014 they drafted Bishop Sankey out of the University of Washington, but that turned out to be a bust as Sankey never lived up to his hype. Since Sankey did not work out the way the Titans planned, they drafted David Cobb out of the University of Minnesota, who rushed for 2000 yards in his final college season, in the 2015 NFL Draft. Cobb did not produce in his rookie year due to the fact that he was injured for most of the season. Once he came back from his injury he that he could be the running back that Tennessee has been looking for. Expect Cobb to be the starting running back for the Tennessee Titans in the upcoming 2016 season. He should be targeted in the middle rounds of your 2016 draft.
The Tennessee Titans did not have much to offer in terms of valuable wide receivers for fantasy in 2015. Over the past few seasons Kendall Wright was the main Titans wide receiver option people targeted in their fantasy football drafts. This season Wright was either hurt or inconsistent, and he totaled only 408 yards and three touchdowns in 2015. Rookie Dorial Green-Beckham came into the season as a big sleeper, and he showed flashes of his talent toward the end of the season. The former Missouri Tiger will be a sleeper in the upcoming 2016 season. With Mariota throwing the ball you can expect Wright and Green-Beckham to be wide receiver threats next season and they should be targeted in the later round of your fantasy draft.
The most consistent option on the Tennessee Titans in 2015 team was tight end Delanie Walker who totaled 1,088 receiving yours and six touchdowns. Walker finished the 2015 season as the fifth ranked tight end and he averaged nine fantasy points per game. The talented tight end should be targeted in the middle rounds of your fantasy draft next season.
With the drafting of their franchise quarterback in Marcus Mariota the Tennessee Titans seem to be a team on the rise. If the Titans can get a consistent running game going they could be one of the sleeper teams in the 2016 season. The Titans play makers should be players to watch during the off season, and should be targeted in your 2016 drafts.
