Jacksonville Jaguars Fantasy Football Recap

Over the past few NFL seasons the Jacksonville Jaguars have been one of the worst teams in the NFL. In terms of fantasy the player worth owning over the past few seasons was Maurice Jones-Drew. That all changed in 2015 as the Jaguars had one of the most explosive offenses in the league. Jacksonville averaged 23 points per game and finished with a 5-11 record. If the Jags can get a stronger defense they could be one of the best teams over the next few seasons in the NFL.

Jacksonville Jaguars Fantasy Football Recap

Blake Bortles was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Since then he has established himself as one of the best quarterbacks to come out of the 2014 class. In 2015, Bortles took the next step to becoming one of the best quarterbacks in fantasy football. He averaged almost 20 fantasy points per game during the 2015 season. With all the young talent at the skill positions for Bortles to throw to he should have no problem repeating and/or improving on his 2015 numbers next year. He should be targeted around the fifth round in your 2016 draft.

Since Jones-Drew left the Jaguars for Oakland the Jags have been in search of a new running back. In the 2015 NFL Draft the Jags selected T.J Yeldon out of the University of Alabama. Yeldon showed great skills in his rookie season and tallied over 1,000 total yards and three touchdowns in the 2015 season. With all the offensive weapons the Jaguars have Yeldon will have plenty of opportunities to score you fantasy points next season. Yeldon should be targeted in the third or fourth round in your draft in the 2016 season.

In 2015, the Jaguars had two of the best wide receivers in fantasy football. Their number one wide receiver Allen Robinson showed flashes of his talent in 2014 and then burst onto the scene in 2015, totaling 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns. He should be drafted in the late second to early third round in your draft next season. The other receiver in Jacksonville was Allen Hurns who earlier in the season had either 60 yards and or a touchdown in 11 of 16 games this year. Hurns totaled 1,031 yards and 10 touchdowns and should be targeted in the middle rounds of your draft in 2016. One of the keys to winning in your fantasy league is having players that consistently produce for your team, and that is exactly what Hurns and Robinson did this past season.

In the 2015 off-season the Jags signed tight end Julius Thomas, formally of the Denver Broncos. Thomas was injured in the preseason but once he returned he proved that he was not a product of Peyton Manning’s offense. Thomas produced 455 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games and averaged six fantasy points per game. Thomas should be seen as one of the top ten tight ends in your draft next season and should be targeted around the middle to late rounds.

The Jacksonville Jaguars had a bad NFL season but in regards to fantasy football, they were quite exceptional. The team had several skill players finish in the top 10 at their position. With another year under their belt the Jags will be a team to watch out for in 2016, and has a lot of players to target in your fantasy football league when drafts come along in the summer.
