Monaco Rule Out Falcao Return

Monaco have ruled out a return for Radamel Falcao meaning the Columbian striker looks set to stay with Chelsea for the rest of the season, reports Sky Sports.

The 29-year-old has struggled to make an impact in English football firstly at Manchester United and now at Chelsea after joining the West London club on a season-long loan from the French side.

Monaco Rule Out Falcao Return

Falcao is currently sidelined with a thigh injury which has meant he has not featured for the Blues since the end of October and returned to Monaco this week to undergo tests for the injury that is likely to keep him out of action for a lengthy period – meaning a recall to the Ligue 1 side is out of the question.

The striker, who scored 52 times in 68 games in two seasons with Atletico Madrid, has struggled for form and fitness since suffering a major knee injury midway through the 2013/14 season after joining Monaco in a £52m deal during the summer of 2013. He featured three times of the French side last season, finding the net twice, before joining Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United on a season-long loan deal in September 2014.

But his time at Old Trafford wasn’t a happy one as injury again disrupted his playing time and he hit just four goals in 26 league appearances for the Red Devils.

Falcao, who has scored once in one start and eight substitute appearances for Chelsea this campaign after being brought to Stamford Bridge by former manager Jose Mourinho, looks unlikely to get much game time for the current Premier League champions with Diego Costa and Loic Remy ahead of him in the pecking order.
