The Formula E circus heads to the sunny coast of Uruguay to finish the motorsport season for 2015 for the Punta del Este ePrix.
2015 Punta Del Este ePrix Preview
Last year Sebastien Buemi won his first race in Formula E around the 2.785km anticlockwise track. There are 20 turns with many high-speed chicanes. The first corner has been modified since last year however, with the right-left layout of the chicane now laid out in the opposite direction going from left to right.
Sebastien Buemi and the e.Dams squad have looked superior in the first two races, however after a terrible race last month in Putrajaya whereby Buemi lost the race due to a power outage and Nico Prost suffered damage, the Swiss driver especially will be wanting to make a reappearance on the top step of the podium.
However he will face strong competition from current Championship leader Lucas di Grassi of Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler who has shown incredible consistency, being on top form from the start of the season.
Dragon Racing and Mahindra have also shown promising pace and could be challengers for the podium places. The Indian team have a new driver in the form of Formula Renault 3.5 champion Oliver Rowland who steps in alongside Bruno Senna after Nick Heidfeld was ruled out on medical grounds due to injuring his hand last time out in Malaysia and having to undergo surgery.
Also making their Uruguay debuts this weekend, as regular drivers are the Andretti duo of Robin Frijns and Simona de Silvestro. Dragon’s Loic Duval, NEXTEV’s Oliver Turvey, Team Aguri’s Nathanael Berthon and Venturi’s Jacques Villeneuve will also be brand new to the streets of Punta del Este.
You can catch live coverage of the race in the UK from 6pm onwards on ITV4 with the race starting at 4pm local time.
