While we can all agree that by and large professional athletes and organizations are paid handsomely, the stark difference between those in the upper echelon versus their lowly counterparts can’t be understated.
Case in point, check out Russell Wilson and the other players who got $20+ million in 2015 according to this graphic inspired by Personal Capital’s net worth calculator, when compared to the bottom five on the list. It’s not on the graphic, but it’s also worth noting that Wilson’s completion percentage increased to 68.5% this year—the second highest in the NFL. You’ll also notice Pete Carroll made the top 5 highest-paid coaches, and it looks like all that money spent on the Seahawks is paying off this year with their three-game winning streak so far. Does money spent necessarily coincide with a team’s net worth? Are the most expensive teams also spending the most? Are there teams near the bottom finding ways to spend more than they can afford?
