Golden State Warriors starting forward Harrison Barnes is to set to miss a few games with an ankle sprain. Barnes is currently listed as day-to-day, but the Warriors may be without Barnes form anywhere between 1-2 weeks, if the injury is worse then the Warriors currently fear.
Interim head coach Luke Walton had this to say on the injury. “With an ankle sprain, it could be a few weeks. Or it could be a week” Walton said.
Harrison Barnes Day-To-Day with Sprained Ankle
Barnes has been an integral part of the Warriors record 18-0 start to the season. Barnes is currently averaging 13.4 points and 5 rebounds per game.
Barnes has mostly been used in what most call a small line-up, Barnes has proven to be one of the most effective players when interim head coach Luke Walton has decided to use the small line-up.
Barnes missed Saturday’s 19 point victory over the Sacramento Kings, and if the ankle injury does turn out to be worse than originally feared, then Barnes could miss key games against the likes of Toronto and Indiana. Those two games are a part of what looks to be the most difficult part of the Warriors season so far, as the team is set to start a seven game road trip. If Barnes misses all of these games then I expect the 13 day road trip to be significantly difficult for this Warriors team.
The Warriors undefeated run is the best start in NBA history. Will the Warriors lose their first game of the year on this road trip? I honestly don’t think so. But what it might take out of them could cause problems down the road. Hopefully Barnes will not miss significant time, as the Warriors will eventually need the talented young forward down the road.
