After seeing Jordan Eberle miss time earlier in the year, and with Connor McDavid currently on the shelf with a broken collarbone, the Edmonton Oilers talented young forward core suffered another injury on Wednesday Night. Winger Nail Yakupov was injured on a second period faceoff, when a linesman fell on his leg. Yakupov and the linesman got tied up after a faceoff, with the linesman falling hard on Yakupov’s leg, and it bending awkwardly on the play.
The linesman grabbed Yakupov after losing balance while backing out of the faceoff circle, and landed dangerously on the winger’s leg caught underneath.
Following the play, Yakupov was immediately taken to the Oilers dressing room. He left the game and did not return. The team did not give an update on his condition following the game.

There was some good news from Nick Kypreos though.
Hearing #Oilers Yakupov collision with official doesn't appear serious. He will be further evaluated in morning.

Earlier in the night, Yakupov scored his 100th career NHL point, becoming the second player from 2012 NHL draft to reach that mark. His former Sarnia Sting teammate Alex Galchenyuk was the first. Galchenyuk has 117 career points. Third on the list is Filip Forsberg with 80 career NHL points.
