The season finale for the Camping World Truck Series ended what was an exciting and action-packed season of racing. From the short tracks to the road courses, and back to the dirt, the young guns and older veterans of the trucks put on quite the show all season long, and the Ford EcoBoost 200 at Miami was no exception.
Entering the final race, Erik Jones (#4 Toyota) led Tyler Reddick (#19 BBR Music Ford) in the points by just under twenty points. It all appeared to be Jones’s championship to lose, but there was still a race to be completed.
Under the lights at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the race would be dominated by Matt Crafton (#88 Menards Toyota), who led over half of the race from the pole on his way to victory for the sixth time for the season. It would be a small consolation prize for the ThorSport driver, finishing third in the championship hunt.
However, the big story would be the champion of the Camping World Truck Series, and it would be Erik Jones. He would finish sixth, becoming the youngest driver to claim a truck series title. Jones would clinch the title by just fifteen points over second place Tyler Reddick, in what was a hotly contested battle all season long.
And that concludes another outstanding season for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Here’s looking ahead to 2016 when the Trucks will be back in action at Daytona International Speedway in February.
