Chris Robshaw re-signs with Harlequins

PRESS RELEASE: Chris Robshaw re-signs with Harlequins

Harlequins is delighted to announce today (Tuesday 17th November) that back-row and England captain Chris Robshaw has committed his future to the Club.

Commenting on the news, Robshaw said: “I am honoured to have re-signed with Harlequins, a team I’ve supported my whole life. The Club feels like an extended family to me with its amazing players, management and supporters.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the Club and I’m extremely excited to keep pushing for silverware with both Harlequins and England.

“I would like to thank all of the supporters for their continued support and look forward to being with this great Club in the years to come.”

Having played over 200 senior matches for the Club since graduating from the award winning Academy, Robshaw has become one of the most experienced, valuable and influential squad members at Harlequins.

The two-time Premiership Player of the Year winner was named Harlequins captain in 2010, a role he held during the Club’s most successful period in its near 150 year history.

After lifting the Amlin Challenge Cup in 2011, he was named man of the match and scored a try during the Club’s maiden Premiership crown in 2012. He was also captain of the Club during the LV= Cup and Aviva ‘A’ League winning campaigns.

Robshaw’s work rate on the field is exemplary, regularly topping the tackle and breakdown stats at both domestic and international level. Away from the field, he is a true professional and a key asset to Harlequins.

Having made his international debut for England during the 2009 tour of Argentina, he had to wait until 2012 to earn his second cap. It was at this point that he was named captain of England and is now the country’s second highest capped captain, behind fellow Harlequin Will Carling.

During his captaincy, Robshaw has led England to victory over the All Blacks and in 2014 secured the country’s first Triple Crown title in over ten years. Robshaw earned the most recent of his 43 Test caps during Rugby World Cup 2015.

Harlequins Director of Rugby Conor O’Shea added: “Chris is everything you want in a rugby player and everything that you would want as a person. He has achieved incredible things in his career to date.

“Chris is an exceptional ambassador and role model for the sport and deserves recognition for what he has done, and will continue to do, for this game; I’d like to thank him for his selfless dedication, humility and resilience.

“I’m sure everyone at Harlequins will be delighted with this announcement and will look forward to seeing Chris playing in a Harlequins and England shirt for many years to come.”
