WWE and BPL: Tag Teams United

In light of Wayne Rooney and Wade ‘The King’ Barrett having a show down on Monday Night Raw where Rooney decided to slap The King I thought it might be fun to put together a list of current Barclays Premier League Superstars and WWE superstars and pair them off in Tag Teams to compete on WWE.

Please feel free to add your own…and reply to me on @AdamBerryActor with your thoughts and suggestions.

Tag Teams United

1. The Red Demons – Wayne Rooney and Finn Balor

Now this would be a team of brawn and athleticism to rival any other. Wayne Rooney would undeniably bring the anger to the team that would serve Finn Balor very well – and the popularity would be rivaled by no other. But the main reason these two should be paired up would be the finisher. Who can remember Wayne Rooney’s killer goal in the Manchester Derby a few years ago. The over head kick that vibrated through the nation. Pair that up with Finns over head kick which he used to help take down Apollo Cruise on last Wendesday’s NXT and you have a deadly finshing move.

2. The Diving Doubles – Ashley Young and Neville

It only seems fair that we pair Ashley Young up with ‘The Man That Gravity Forgot’. Let’s face it, Neville and Ashley would get on very well, both having accents which the US would find hard to understand. More importantly for their ability to dive. Neville has one of the most dynamic suicide dives in the business, and as for Ashley Young, well we have seen him dive a lot as well. It could be their trademark move – a double dive over the top rope…I just wonder whether Ashley Young would find it odd trying to do one over the top rope as oppose to a foot thats not actually there.

3. Team Fit Not Fat – Luke Shaw and Bull Dempsey

It only seems fair that these two finally manage to get their message of fitness across together. Both have had a struggle to keep fit in the past with Luke Shaw having to go to Instagram in order to convince his manager that he is indeed fit enough to play – and Bull Dempsey has undeniably had his struggles with fitness, health and fatty foods. I think they would be very good for each other.

4. Two Angry Men – Diego Costa and Kane

We all remember Kane going through his Anger Management with Daniel Bryan – and I am pretty sure Diego Costa would indeed benefit from some of those classes as well. Diego Costa has not shied away from angry controversy this season and the pair of them would for sure be two very angry men. I just wonder if Costa is up to the big task that the Undertaker will leave.

5. The Womanisers – John Terry and Dolph Ziggler

Well both of these people are well known for their lady problems. With Dolph Ziggler trying to get back with his ex: Nikki Bella. Very recently on Total Divas he tried to steal back John Cena’s girlfriend. Added to that the problems he seems to have gone through with: Lana and Summer Rae, I think the pair of them will get on very well. Plus John Terry would bring that brutal Englishness to Dolph hopefully helping have a much better cutting edge.

6. The Ginger Ninja’s – Sheamus and Kevin De Bruyne

These two are probably the most likely to make a team out of these whole lists. WWE seem to time and time again only pair people with the loosest of connections – and no more so than having two superstar with ginger hair. De Bruyne would undeniably bring a lot of flair and finesse to Sheamus brute strength and roll over power. The Flem and The Celt makes an interesting undercurrent to their team.

7. The Three Kings – Wade Barrett, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler and Andy King

In this team I can only see Jerry Lawler as the Manager – and you could have some great back and forth’s on who is the real King? The Leicester City player can actually claim its his name, Jerry has been called it since wrestling began and Wade Barrett earned it in a tournament specifically designed just for him. It is a conundrum.

8. The Swiss Supermen – Cesaro and Xherdan Shaqiri

The legs. Can you imagine how powerful this team would be? Xherdan Shaqiri’s legs are around 28 inches in circumference and we all know that Cesaro is pound for pound the strongest WWE Superstar there is. Therefore these two would make a killer tag team. But I do see a problem. If they unite and create a super swiss team then under the rules of neutrality would they even be allowed to fight?

9. The Underdogz – Jamie Vardy and Daniel Bryan

It must be spelled with a Z. First and foremost. Also Jamie Vardy this season has epitomized the name of ‘underdog’. He has scored eight goals in eight consecutive games and is currently pushing for the record of 10 and all of this success has come relatively out of nowhere. Moreover, Vardy has come up from Non-League Football (soccer) similarly to the Independent scene that Daniel Bryan also had to spend years reaping the benefits from. Both superstars would be very entertaining and would make for a very quick team.

10. The Charlatans – Damien Sandow and Joey Barton

Sandow’s gimmick of a ‘know it all arrogant wrestler’ I am certain was based on Ex Premier League Footballer Joey Barton. Joey has picked up many a red card in his professional career and is always happy to give his opinion whether we would like to hear it or not. They would be a fantastic heel team, and they may just learn a thing or two off of each other?

Please feel free to add your own and let me know your lists as well!
