On Hockey Hall of Fame Night in Toronto, Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg had a chance to pot his 300th NHL goal. The marker would cement his status as the 5th Red Wing in franchise history to hit the 300-goal, 800 point club. Sergei Fedorov, whom is getting inducted this weekend, is part of that group along with some of these ho-hum names.

Congrats Henrik Zetterberg, that’s career goal number 300! #DETvsTOR https://t.co/UJVLgaTfeK

Catching a pass from Dylan Larkin in the neutral zone, Zetterberg did what Eddie Olczyk seems to have trademarked in mentioning on NBC Sports broadcasts, he got the puck on net. He got a bounce, as James Reimer booted it, and the puck trickled over the line. Point #801 was the milestone marker.
Being able to watch Zetterberg night in and night out has been truly a privilege, but the offensive numbers aren’t the only thing that should be considered. The 35-year old’s work ethic, leadership, two-way game, and hockey sense have all contributed to netting the 300 goals and 800 points.
He didn’t get the “C” on his sweater for nothing.
On a night where his former teammates got inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, this could be the one of the many milestones mentioned in Zetterberg’s sparkling career, especially for a player that was drafted as late as he was.
When you’re mentioned with these guys in terms of 7th round picks, you’ve done something right as a hockey player.
