Jose Mourinho has failed in his FA charge appeal on a £50,000 fine and a one-game stadium ban issued by the Football Association, reports BBC Sport.
The Chelsea boss was given a charge after he said the officials were afraid to award his team a penalty in the home defeat to Southampton, whilst he admitted to another misconduct charge after being sent to the stands in the defeat to West Ham United at Upton Park.
The comments he made to the media after the loss to Ronald Koeman’s side meant that he would receive a stadium ban if he was found guilty of further misconduct for making comments to the media.
Mourinho was given an immediate one-game stadium ban by the FA and was also fined £40,000 for speaking to referee Jon Moss at half-time during the defeat to West Ham.
Should the 52-year-old fail to appeal against his punishment, then he will miss this Saturday’s fixture away at Stoke City, although the FA say the two charges are different types of misconduct and would not trigger the suspended stadium ban received after the defeat to Southampton.
The defeat to Liverpool last week saw speculation in the media that there was a player revolt at Stamford Bridge against Mourinho, but the Portuguese has vowed to fight on regardless and a 2-1 win over Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League in midweek is a step in the right direction.
Chelsea have made the worse start to a campaign by any team defending the Premier League crown and are sitting 15th in the table having won just three matches of their opening 11 matches.
Mourinho is also facing a legal claim made by former doctor Eva Carneiro after he criticised her for the way she treated Eden Hazard during the 2-2 draw with Swansea City on the opening day of the season, although he was cleared by the FA of making discriminatory comments about the doctor.
