Kelvin Gastelum vs. Neil Magny is the new five-round main event of TUF Latin America 2 Finale. The event is scheduled for the 21st of November in Monterrey, Mexico. The news comes directly from the UFC.
Originally Gastelum (11-1) was supposed to face Matt Brown (20-13), however ‘The Immortal’ withdrew from the bout earlier this week after suffering an ankle injury in training.
For Magny (16-4), number 12 in the welterweight division, this is his second fight in a row on short notice, after stepping in against Erick Silva a couple of weeks before the bout to replace the injured Rick Story in August. The Elevation Fight Team product is on fire. With a recent record of 8-1 in his last 9 fights and an amazing streak of 10 fights over the last 22 months, Magny is by far thee busiest fighter on the UFC’s roster today.
His opponent Kelvin Gastelum has earned a second crack at welterweight following his highly publicized weight cutting issues, and is coming off a second-round TKO victory against Nate Marquardt at UFC 188 in June, in which the 24 year old was forced to move up by UFC president Dana White after missing the welterweight limit for the twice in three fights. Gastelum looked sharp against Marquardt appearing in perfect shape, fast and healthy, though has been adamant he is best at 170 pounds and has convinced Dana White to allow him one more shot at it.
