Memphis Dreams – Tigers Football Update

The Memphis Tigers are sitting at 7-0 with that monumental win over Ole Miss on the resume heading into a light Week 9 against 32-point underdog Tulane. John Maddox of Tigers Tonight Podcast joins MarkRogersTV to address quarterbak Paxton Lynch’s emergence. The Memphis quarterback is completing 71 percent of his throws with 17 touchdowns against just one interception. The 6’7″ senior is vaulting up NFL Draft boards. More importantly he is the leader and catalyst of a historically good Memphis offense that most recently tore through Tulsa 66-42. They’ve clicked all year.

John and Mark also address Lynch’s supporting cast such as Doroland Dorceus (335, 6 TD), Jarvis Cooper (320 yards, 4 TD) and Jamarius Henderson (263 yards, 4 TD) sharing the load at running back and Anthony Miller (30 receptions, 542 yards, 3 TD) and Mose Frazier (39 receptions, 490 yards, 3 TD) at wide receiver. John also talks up a few hidden gems and a defense that ranks 110th in the nation in yards and 81st in scoring. The numbers are obviously deplorable, but how good is this unit.

The current roster is comprised of recruiting classes ranked in the bottom half of FBS football. How does Justin Fuente do it? John reviews the coach’s ability to combine program building, player development and strategy into the perfect fit for Memphis football.

John and Mark also review the Tigers’ upcoming challenges with Navy, Temple and Houston on the horizon. There are five games to play plus conference championship week. The scenarios are many. The AAC winner could provide a scenario that would prove perplexing and place the College Football Playoff Committee in a very uncomfortable position.
