Adama Traoré Set for Bumper Pay Rise at Aston Villa

Aston Villa winger, Adama Traoré, is set to become their highest wage earner due to a clause in his contract, reports The Telegraph

The 19-year-old was brought to Villa Park through a £7 million deal in the summer from Barcelona, despite the youngster making just four outings for the Spanish giants.

Traoré will see his basic £40,000-a-week contract nearly doubled to around £75,000 per week, after a set number of appearances with The Telegraph claiming the clause could be triggered after just 10 outings.

He has so far made five appearances for Villa in all competitions, scoring once in the 5-3 win over League Two side, Notts County, in the Capital One Cup back in August.

The Spain under-19 international was one of Tim Sherwood’s top signings, although it is understood that the former Tottenham Hotspur boss felt that Traoré wasn’t yet ready for the Premier League heights.

Even so, his former club, Barcelona, still think highly of their ex-young prodigy, and are believed to have a first-refusal option, as well as having a clause in the deal in which they could bring him back to the Nou Camp within the next three years.

Sherwood was sacked on Monday after just eight months in the hot seat. He had tallied six losses on the bounce, which leaves the Midlands club in 19th place in the Premier League.

Former Arsenal midfielder, Rémi Garde, is the favourite to take the vacant manager’s job at Villa, but there is a hold up in making a quick appointment, as the Frenchman wants to bring in his own coaching staff. Garde, who was part of the Arsenal side that won the league and cup double in 1998, has been out of work since 2014 after stepping down as boss of Lyon for personal reasons.

He was in charge of the Les Gones for three years, in which time he won the Coupe de France and Trophée des Champions in 2012.

Elsewhere, Villa captain, Micah Richards, is facing at least a one-match suspension after clashing with Federico Fernández during the 2-1 defeat to Swansea City last weekend.
