Tomas Plekanec signs two year extension with Montreal Canadiens

Centre Tomas Plekanec is staying with the Montreal Canadiens for another two years.

The deal is standard, so there are no clauses like a no trade or no movement clause. From the Canadiens official website:

The Canadiens have come to terms on a two-year contract extension with forward Tomas Plekanec (2016-18).
The 32-year-old was on the final year of a six-year contract in 2015-16. Plekanec will now be with the Canadiens for at least two more seasons, until 2018.

The Czech center has an enjoyed an excellent start to the year, racking up four goals in fives games with a plus-7 differential.

Drafted by Montreal in 2001, Plekanec has played 766 career regular season games with the Canadiens, tallying a total of 206 goals and 503 points — moving into 21st place all-time among Habs pointgetters, past Ralph Backstrom (502 pts) and Bob Gainey (501 pts).

Plekanec, one of four alternate captains on the Canadiens, has started the 2015-16 regular season on the top line with Habs captain Max Pacioretty and fellow alternate captain Brendan Gallagher. Last season, Plekanec finished 15th in the Frank Selke trophy nominations. Plekanec has scored at least 20 goals in seven of his nine full seasons in the NHL, an often overlooked statistic for the former Czech Republic captain. His previous contract had him making $5 million per season cap hit.
