All right, CFL fans, things are starting to get wild. The league’s most dominant team (in an admittedly weak year) has gone down. The expansion team has its sights set on the division lead. The Roughriders… well, they’re still playing too. Look out! It’s the week 14 CFL predictions, coming right for you!
Week 14 CFL Predictions
Calgary Stampeders at Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Gina’s thoughts: With Bo Levi Mitchell passing the 3,000-yard mark, Jon Cornish back in the lineup, and Eric Rogers at the top of his game, the Stamps might seem like an easy pick against a struggling Bombers squad. But whatever defensive and offensive accolades the Stampeders might have received last week, they gave up two return touchdowns to B.C. and let them come from behind to tie the game. That’s not going to win playoff games. Calgary has to play cleaner football with better coverage. Winnipeg, although couldn’t they pull together a strong game to win against the Als, showed a much stronger team the previous week in the Banjo Bowl. Matt Nichols is a capable quarterback and Winnipeg is at 4-8 with a chance to take over third position in the West and a playoff spot. You can’t discount that underdog mentality. Regardless, Calgary is a stronger team and I think will win again this week.

B.C. Lions at Edmonton Eskimos
Matt’s thoughts: With Saskatchewan in the sewer and Winnipeg looking to jump down and join them, you’d think B.C. would be looking to solidify a position as a third-place team to the Alberta powerhouses in the west division. Not so; instead they’re on third-string quarterback Jonathon Jennings after injuries to Lulay and now Beck, and they’re fighting off – can it be true? – an eastern crossover. Meanwhile, Edmonton is a legitimate contender for the western crown, with Mike Reilly back and in form. Playing at Commonwealth, the Lions will be lucky to escape with their dignity; taking the win will be next to impossible.
Kelly Bale: B.C. 21 – Edmonton 34
Matthew Bin: B.C. 10 – Edmonton 35
Nicholas di Giovanni: B.C. 20 – Edmonton 25
Greg McCulloch: B.C. 24 – Edmonton 36
Gina Schiltz: B.C. 24 – Edmonton 31
Toronto Argonauts at Ottawa Redblacks
Greg’s thoughts: Ottawa hasn’t seen a CFL playoff team since 1994, a team with a winning record since 1979, and a team that won first place in the East since 1978. Now the Redblacks are currently sitting second in the East and with a win can take a share of first with Hamilton. Last week, the 40-year-old Henry Burris looked like he was in his 20s versus the Riders, throwing for a mind blowing 477 yards with two touchdown passes and another scored himself on the ground. Standing in their way is the Trevor Harris-led Argos, who are looking to keep pace with the Redblacks and stay in striking distance with the Ticats. Look for a tight game, to the end but the Redblacks to come out victorious at home and inch their way to the Ottawa football record books.
Kelly Bale: Toronto 28 – Ottawa 32
Matthew Bin: Toronto 24 – Ottawa 29
Nicholas di Giovanni: Toronto 31 – Ottawa 22
Greg McCulloch: Toronto 27 – Ottawa 35
Gina Schiltz: Toronto 27 – Ottawa 30
Montreal Alouettes at Saskatchewan Roughriders
Nick’s thoughts: After an all-round excellent game from Montreal last week, the 5-6 Alouettes are looking to string two wins together as they head into Saskatchewan to take on the 1-11 Roughriders in their first clash this season. Stefan Logan returned for 138 yards against the Bombers and was just eight yards shy of collecting two touchdowns. He and the rest of the special teams might just be the difference in this game. Jon Crompton is looking to increase his overall performance in just his third start of the season and will probably do so with a win this week. Sorry, Rider Nation, your team is going 1-12.
