Sunday Social: Moving Day for College Football Teams

In our weekly installment, Sunday Social: Moving Day looks at the best social media posts during Saturday's college football action.

Saturday was moving day in college football and some teams nailed some big shots and some teams completely shanked their swings. After a significant shuffling of the deck, the college landscape is a little more clear this morning.

And with all that drama, you know the chill level was nearing zero on game day. As we do every Sunday, let’s take a stroll through our social networks and find the best – sometimes funny, sometimes witty, sometimes pithy, and sometimes a little mean – from around the fan bases.

Sunday Social: Moving Day

We’ll start in the same place we did last week, with the Auburn Tigers. Leonard Fournette had a day against the Fighting MalChumpians, and as Alabama Twitter fan @Sweet_Daddy_J74 points out, Auburn will be moving WAY down the leaderboard:

Karma was in full effet for the Alabama fans though, as Chad Kelly was bouncing touchdown passes off of Tide defenders. Lane Kiffen was clearly trying to explain to the rest of the Alabama coaching staff that he’s a USC guy – he’s not trying to actually win EVERY game guys.

It seemed that Alabama wasn’t the only top team to struggle on Saturday. For the first time all season, there’s some talk about who the best team in the nation is. The Buckeyes might want to remember the two rules of life: Never start a land war in Asia and never do battle with a Sicilian when death is on the line. If they need a reminder, they have the legendary figher Inigo “NIU” Montoya in the stands to remind the.

Any decent Princess Bride reference makes it into this column, by the way. Well done, @lawonthedraw

The insightful Pat Forde, who is one of the more witty college football columnists, had a great idea for NIU:

But possibly the most vitriol all night was reserved for the Stanford and USC game. If you are Steve Sarkisian, it’s not a good time to be on Twitter.

Remembering one of USC’s more inglorious moments (I know, I know…so many of them), user @popcorn1994 can clearly see the bus ride home:

Poor bus driver is caught in the middle, if you ask me.

And this refrain will sound awfully familiar to Pac-12 fans:

Another great hollywood reference from Twitter user @gwilliams1967 as he noticed Will Ferrell leading the Trojans out of the tunnel last night:

This astute Twitterer thinks the trash talking will extend up into the pro ranks, and he might be right…

We don’t want to make it sound like we are picking on just one person. Sark isn’t the only coach whose seat is heating up.

Al Golden might have the hottest seat of a 3-0 coach in the history of football.

And what is worse than losing a big home game because of a missed extra point? It’s almost heart breaking watching these Texas players celebrate an assumed seventh point.

Kickers, you have ONE job. One job. Talk about irony though:

I’m sure you aren’t alone there, @2GetBuckets0 :

That wraps up another walk through the social media park on a post-game Sunday. I’m sure next weekend will be just as good as college football never disappoints.
