2015 Singapore Grand Prix Preview: Red Bull

Under the night sky and artificial light of the streets in Singapore; it cannot be denied that Red Bull have enjoyed a very good history. Winning three of the seven races we’ve had there so far.

Last year a double podium behind a title-bound Lewis Hamilton showed that despite a clear horsepower deficit to Mercedes, Red Bull could still be competitive on the streets of the Marina Bay circuit.

2015 Singapore Grand Prix Preview: Red Bull

Daniil Kyvat only finished 14th in the Toro Rosso last season but no doubt he’ll keen to re-find the form that helped him secure second at this season’s Hungarian Grand Prix. Chasing another podium at Singapore will surely be the target as the team aim to chase down Williams for third in the constructors standings.

Last year’s Singapore Grand Prix saw Daniel Ricciardo take third behind team-mate Sebastian Vettel, all race long the two were very close together, this time round Daniel will be surely looking to take the fight to Mercedes on a track that really doesn’t rely on horsepower.

Further talks between Renault and Red Bull look to have broken down completely with Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn, however, has confirmed for the first time the company’s days of being an engine supplier are over.

Ghosn said: “We said very clearly, it’s finished. “We already alerted the Formula 1 authorities [saying] that ‘Don’t count on us as a provider of an engine. It’s over’.

“We will honour our contracts, no problem, but the occasion of Renault as a developer and supplier of engines stops.”

This all but confirms Renault and Red Bull will end their eight year partnership. Looking to the future it all but seems clear that Ferrari will be powering both Red Bull and Toro Rosso after the Mercedes board decided not to.
More talks and announcements could be expected over the weekend.

Keep your eyes and ears peeled!
