The popular German driver Nico Hulkenberg has finally revealed his racing plans for next season, and beyond. After a frustrating season with Force India so far, the Anglo-Indian team confirmed that Hulkenberg would be driving for them after signing a two-year contract extension.
After missing out yet again on a top team drive with Ferrari retaining their driver line-up, Force India seems the obvious choice for the Hulk. It also provides some much-needed continuity for Nico after moving from Williams to Force India to Sauber and then back to Force India again.
The signing comes in the wake of two non-finishes for Hulkenberg after some teething problems with the new Force India car, however he is confident the team will finish the season well. He certainly isn’t lacking any motivation either with the buzz of winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans certainly not wearing off any time soon.
There were rumours that Hulkenberg might make a switch to new for 2016 Team Haas. However, it seems this was too much of a risk for him to take. What it does mean is that time always seems to be forever running out for the German in his search for a Formula One title. Unless Force India can severely up their game, for the next two years at least, the Hulk will remain a midfield driver.
