Last Word on Sports XTRA and LWOS Radio is proud to present their newest podcast, “At the Net” featuring Dave Gove and Ben Kerr. In LWOS tradition we strive to bring you, our audience, the best in sports news, opinion, and analysis and do it all while also bringing on guests who are amongst the biggest names in their sport. This show, featuring Beach Volleyball is no different, digging deep into the FIVB World Tour and all things Beach Volleyball.
This week Dave and Ben are looking at the FIVB Beach Volleyball Grand Slam event in Long Beach. The boys discuss all the results of the week, including the Brazillian teams of Alison Cerutti and Bruno Oscar Schmidt on the men’s side; and Talita Antunes and Larissa Franca on the women’s side sweeping the gold medals. They also talk about the American teams of Kerri Walsh-Jennings and April Ross; as well as Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena making the finals.
Ben gets into the Canadian results of the week, with Heather Bansley and Sarah Pavan leading the way for the Canucks as they have in so many tournaments this year. They also discuss another disappointing loss for Taylor Pischke and Melissa Human-Parades in qualifying, and the fact that Chaim Schalk and Ben Saxton have fallen out of the top 8 in World Ranking Points. Schalk and Saxton need a good tournament this week in Poland to qualify for the tournament finals in Fort Lauderdale.
The boys discuss the upcoming Grand Slam in Poland, and how the really short turnaround from Long Beach could effect that event.
The Boys also discuss Vanautu making waves on the womens side, with their big upset of the World Champions.
Lastly Dave and Ben give some insight into attending live events for those in our audience who haven’t had the pleasure.
All that in this week’s edition of At The Net.
