Steelers sign Quarterback Michael Vick
Team places quarterback Bruce Gradkowski on the Reserve/Injured List.
PITTSBURGH, Pa. ─ The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed veteran quarterback Michael Vick to a one-year contract, the team announced today. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Vick is entering his 13th season in the NFL in 2015. The 6-0, 215-pound Virginia Tech product was selected with the first overall selection by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2001 NFL Draft and remained with the Falcons through 2006. He was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2009 and spent five years with the Eagles before joining the New York Jets in 2014.
In 12 NFL seasons, Vick has appeared in 138 games (112 starts) and completed 1,767-of-3,151 passes for 22,093 yards with 131 touchdowns and added 6,010 rushing yards and 36 rushing touchdowns on 853 rushing attempts. Vick, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, also earned NFL Comeback Player of the Year accolades in 2010.
To make room for Vick on the roster, the Steelers placed quarterback Bruce Gradkowski on the team’s Reserve/Injured List. Gradkowski joined the Steelers as an unrestricted free agent in 2013. He entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft choice of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2006, and has spent nine seasons in the NFL with stints in Tampa Bay (2006-07), Cleveland (2008), Oakland (2009-10), Cincinnati (2011-12) and Pittsburgh (2013-current). He has thrown for 4,057 yards on 375-of-709 passing with 21 touchdowns in 37 games (20 starts) in his NFL career.
