2015 Belgian Grand Prix Ferrari Preview

After the emotional victory in Hungary, which Vettel dedicated to Jules Bianchi, F1 took a four-week break. It is now over, and next up is Spa. Ferrari has the most Belgian Grand Prix wins of any constructors, with 16, and will be fighting to add to that tally this weekend, especially since it their 900th Grand Prix.

2015 Belgian Grand Prix Ferrari Preview

No. 5 Sebastian Vettel (DEU)

2015 Form: 1,3,4,5,2,3,5,3,1,3

2014 Belgian Grand Prix: Grid P3, Race P5

Vettel has twice won around here, in 2011 and 2013, with the former been his one pole position. He has also got another two podium places, third in 2009 and second in 2012. His worse finish was 15th in 2010. That race saw him collect and take out Jenson Button, which saw the German get a drive-through penalty. He later on made contact with Vitantonio Liuzzi, which caused a puncture. He has only one non-finish, which was in his rookie season.

No. 7 Kimi Raikkonen (FIN)

2015 Form: DNF,8,DNF,4,6,5,2,4,4,DNF

2014 Belgian Grand Prix: Grid P8, Race P4

In his first seven outings here, Raikkonen won four times, in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2009. This puts him joint third, with Jim Clark, in the number of Belgian Grand Prix wins. Only Michael Schumacher and Alain Prost have more, with six and five wins respectively. Remarkably, he only has only one pole position, and that came in his first season at Ferrari. He got a third place in his comeback year at Lotus, but has suffered misfortune here as well. Technical glitches forced him to retire in his first couple of outings, in 2001 and 2002, and a brake issue made him retire in 2013. In 2008, on a wet surface, Raikkonen spun out and hit the wall. Since there were only two laps remaining, he was still classified in 18th place.

With the success of Hungary, and both drivers experiencing good form around Spa, the Scuderia will be confident that they can take the fight to the Silver Arrows, and, perhaps, ignite their title aspirations.
