Fantasy Profile: Jonathan Stewart, RB, Carolina Panthers
In a time share with DeAngelo Williams for his entire career, Jonathan Stewart finally gets the opportunity to be the full time starter for Carolina. A versatile running back who has averaged 4.6 yards-per-carry during his career and been the main pass catcher out of the Carolina backfield, however a few things are working against him this year. First, Carolina has Cam Newton, one of the elite running quarterbacks in the league, who not only takes open field carries, but goal line opportunities away from Stewart. Next, Carolina employs a slow tempo offenses and tries to grind out low scoring games.
Stewart has never been a model of health, he was able to play 16 games in three of his first four seasons, but over his past three seasons he has missed 20 games. There is opportunity here for Stewart to become a valuable fantasy contributor, but make sure to cover yourself at the running back position.
