Soldado could only muster seven goals in 51 Premier League appearances. Surprisingly, six of those goals came in matches that resulted in a Spurs win. However, after his countless bloopers, missed sitters and absolute howlers, many fans would agree that the Spaniards time is up after his woeful time at the club.
Meanwhile, in the Europa League, Soldado grabbed six goals in 15 appearances for Spurs, a much more enviable record. His quality becomes clearer when his Champions League goal tally has been considered. 11 goals in 29 games for Valencia, Osasuna and Real Madrid is not a bad record at all.
His transfer had already been leaked by ex-teammate Erik Lamela, who tweeted a photo of the pair enjoying one last meal together. The tweet has since then been taken down, but not hastily enough for many Spurs fans who had already seen the inevitable message.
Spurs will now look to add another striker to their squad, Clinton Njié looks to be the most likely signing. The Olympique Lyonnais striker would play deputy to Harry Kane.
