Fantasy Profile: Torrey Smith, Wide Receiver, San Francisco 49ers
Torrey Smith signed with San Francisco in the offseason from Baltimore and fills the teams need of a deep threat receiver. Smith is a very inconsistent fantasy player, as half of the weeks in 2014 he scored double digits and the other half he was nowhere to be seen. Smith’s fantasy points often depend on that long play, as he does not catch many balls (only caught more than five passes once in 2014).
His new quarterback Colin Kaepernick has the arm strength to get him the ball, but the Niners have declared they want to get back to running the football more. Kaepernick also made horrible decisions in 2014 and if improvement is not there in 2015, Smith will struggle. He should be a top 40 receiver, but if Kaepernick can return to his former self, Smith could be capable of starting at the flex position.
