Fantasy Profile: Antonio Gates, TE, San Diego Chargers
Antonio Gates had a great 2014 season, finishing second in fantasy scoring for tight ends. Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers continued to find his favorite target in the end zone, allowing Gates to tie for the lead in touchdowns scored at his position with 12.
However, 2015 is expected to be a slightly different year for Gates. After dismissing retirement, Gates was hit with a four-game suspension in July for performance enhancing drug use and his production will likely take a big hit. Ladarius Green, the other tight end on the San Diego roster, should see lots of first team reps in camp. If he performs well in the first few weeks, he could take time away from the veteran. Gates won’t be a top ten fantasy option this season, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he falls out of the top 15.
