US Cellular 250: Everything Gets Hotter When the Sun Goes Down

Ryan Blaney earned his first Xfinity Series win in 2015 by dominating the US Cellular 250 at Iowa Speedway on Saturday Night; it did not come without drama.

The 21 year old lead 252 of the 260 laps en route to Penske’s first win at Iowa in two years. That also sets a track record for most laps lead at Iowa Speedway.

“Just a fun place,” Blaney said. “We’ve always had good runs here.”

Blaney overcame multiple late race restarts to get the victory.

“It’s not ideal,” Blaney said of the green-white-checkered’s cautions. “At all. You have a great car and those late cautions are just chances to give it away.”

The 22 car has found it’s way to victory lane in three straight fall races in Newton.

Drama breaks Loose inside Roush Camp

It wasn’t a quiet night for the Roush Racing group as teammates Darrell Wallace Jr. and Chris Buescher got into it for the second time in 2015.

Wallace had collided with Buescher earlier in the race, then bump-drafted him going down pit road.

Wallace walked up to Buescher’s car after the race and relieved one clear-cut statement from him. “(Expletive) you.”

When asked about what happened, Wallace said Buescher had his helmet on and could hear him. “He must’ve said I had a great race,” Wallace said.

However, that was not all that the team brought. Ryan Reed made contact with JD Motorsports driver Ross Chastain during one of the restarts.

After the race, Reed walked over to the #4 car and shoved Chastain. It was less glamorous than Buescher’s, however this team brought all the drama.

The drama only shows signs of increasing, as the series heads to two road courses, Bristol, and then another road course.
