On what was without a doubt a difficult Grand Prix for the Manor team, arguably more than anybody, they managed to get both cars classified. It was not the giant-killing performance that Jules Bianchi was able to produce at Monaco, but the team achieved the maximum possible with the tools at their disposal which was the maximum that anybody could have asked for on a tough weekend.
2015 Hungarian Grand Prix Manor Review
No. 28 Will Stevens
Grid: P20
Race: P16
Stevens endured a tough weekend, and was vastly outperformed by his team mate in qualifying. After running very long on his first set of tyres in the first part of the race, he was unfortunately unable to finish the race due to a tyre problem on lap 65. He was however classified as he had completed more than 62 laps.
No. 42 Fabio Leimer
Leimer took part in a practice session for the first time in F1, completing 18 laps and ending up almost a second behind regular driver Stevens.
No. 98 Roberto Merhi
Grid: P19
Race: P15
Merhi also didn’t have a trouble-free weekend. He made a miraculous save in FP2 coming out of the very fast turn 4, and he was able to outqualify Stevens by a whole half a second, the same gap that Lewis Hamilton beat Nico Rosberg by. His race was compromised very early on by a loose headrest, and from then on it was a case of keeping out of trouble. After Stevens retired, he was left on his own to finish in 15th place.
