Williams looked to have made huge strides out in Silverstone, jumping both Mercedes and leading the field. However, strategy errors, driver management and poor wet weather driveability will all be factors the Grove outfit will wish to rectify this weekend.
2015 HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX WILLIAMS PREVIEW
The team heads to Hungary with a point to prove; that they can catch and overtake Ferrari, and start to close the gap to Mercedes. For Massa, who is rumoured to have signed an extension for his contract with Williams into 2016, the Hungarian GP holds mixed feelings. In 2009, the racetrack became the scene of his life threatening accident after a spring hit his helmet after falling off from a Brawn GP car. However, the circuit nicknamed, ‘Monaco without the walls’ also holds many good memories and the Brazilian heads their with confidence as he lies sixth in the championship with 74 points, an awful lot closer to teammate Bottas than last year who has 77 and sits fourth in the drivers’ championship.
Valtteri Bottas has described this weekend as the “Finnish Grand Prix” the amount of support he and fellow compatriot Kimi Räikkönen receive, which should boost his confidence. Coming off the back of a frustrating British Grand Prix where the win may have been possible. He now heads into the summer break as the hot favourite for Räikkönen’s Ferrari seat. However, as Finns seems to be, his cool calm and collected personality will ensure a smooth weekend as always for the Fin.
