Richmond Rallies Past Saint Louis FC

St. Louis (July 11, 2015) – The following is a press release from Saint Louis FC of the USL.

The Richmond Kickers scored three unanswered goals to defeat Saint Louis FC 3-1 at World Wide Technology Soccer Park on Saturday night.

Saint Louis FC is now 4-6-6 (18 pts.) on the season and falls to 1-5-3 at home. With the victory, Richmond snaps a four-game winless streak to move to 7-3-8 (29 pts.).

“It’s the same story,” Head Coach Dale Schilly said. “We’re playing good teams who are disciplined and organized. I told the guys that we have to put our heads down and figure out how to get it done.”

The hosts got out to a quick lead after Jermie Lynch earned a penalty for his side in the 12th minute. Bryan Gaul stepped up and sent goalkeeper Ryan Taylor the wrong way to score his fourth goal of the season and give Saint Louis FC the 1-0 lead.

Saint Louis nearly took that lead into halftime, but Richmond found an equalizer in the 43rd minute. A cross was played in from the right side and the ball eventually fell to George Davis IV, who beat Alec Kann from close range.

“It was disappointing to give up a goal on that restart,” Schilly added. “Guys weren’t prepared and that hurt us going into halftime.”

Richmond would then take the lead in the second half. Jason Yeisley scored on a volley in the 75th minute to put the visitors ahead before substitute Michael Callahan curled a shot home from outside the box six minutes later.

The Kickers had been held scoreless in their previous four games before putting three goals past Saint Louis FC.

Saint Louis FC will now prepare for a two-game road trip in Canada next week. Saint Louis will face FC Montreal on Wednesday before traveling to play Toronto FC II on Saturday.
