This week, Sporting Kansas City goes to the PNW to face Carl Robinson and the revamped Vancouver Whitecaps. The Whitecaps have been one of the stories of the MLS season so far, but SKC has been a force to be reckoned with over the past three months, thanks to the stellar play of Krisztian Nemeth and Benny Feilhaber. Will the Whitecaps keep up the pace, or will SKC show their class? Let’s see what the experts say.
Expert | Pick | Comments |
Joseph Goldstein
|
SKC (2-1) |
Vancouver will go up early, but abscences will rule the day. Zusi may be gone, but Benny has been the catalyst and will continue to do so. |
Eric Walcott
|
SKC (2-0) |
Vancouver will be hurt by absences caused by Gold Cup and injury, while SKC benefit from Klinsmann’s baffling decision not to call up Besler or Feilhaber. |
Alec Rivera
|
SKC (2-1) |
After a rough start, SKC has been firmly in the upper echelons of MLS and the West, dispatching some of the league’s best in the process. VAN is definitely a team to watch in the playoffs, but the game goes to the Americans. |
Jeff Krause |
SKC (2-1) |
Kansas City has just one loss in their last nine matches. Vancouver has struggled when they shouldn’t. Should be a win for SKC, despite playing at BC Place. |
Russ McKenzie
|
SKC (2-0) |
Despite being one of the most dynamic teams in the league, the Caps have had a bumpy road. Sporting, however, have proven themselves up for the task presented to them in the Western Conference. |
John Richan |
VAN (1-0) |
The ‘Caps have been one of the nice surprises of the season and currently sit in second place in the West. Home field is always a big advantage in MLS and will prove to be the difference again this weekend. |
Michael Norton |
VAN (1-0) |
Get pumped for the Morales/Feilhaber duel in midfield. Each team has poachers that need quality service, which means the winner of the battle could very well take the war. |
Ned Joyce | Draw (2-2) | This will a very entertaining game with ups and downs. Vancouver will take the lead but the new comeback kids will tie it up late |
