The British Grand Prix was a tale of two stories. A sixth place for Danil Kyvat was a great result, while Daniel Ricciardo’s failure to finish due to electrical issues with the power unit was a stark reminder that there is still plenty of work to be done.
2015 British Grand Prix Red Bull Review
After a poor start for Ricciardo, heading into Village corner the Lotus’ cars had to take avoiding action against his car and collided with each other. Alonso in his McLaren took out team-mate Jenson Button in his own attempt to avoid a crash with the Australian.
Danil Kyvat, starting seventh on the grid, had a very average start. After both the Williams jumped both Mercedes at the start, the four car train scampered off in the distance. Hulkenberg and Kyvat managed to get past both Ferraris, and stayed in fifth and sixth respectively for the majority of the remainder of the race.
Towards the end as the rain came down, Valtteri Bottas struggled in the slippery conditions. Kyvat was catching up with him at a fast rate of knots, but ran out of laps to pass him. Despite the vast contrasts of fortunes, this was a successful race. It could have been far worse considering their current engine woes.
Hungary is up next and with the nature of the circuit not relying on power but on aero and mechanical grip, this could be a good circuit to gain some more valuable points. Force India have put the bulls firmly in their sights with their B-spec car, so it could be a great contest to watch as the rest of the season goes on.
