Packers Tight-End Andrew Quarless Arrested
Quarless was arrested after allegedly attempting to leave the scene, which was confirmed by Ernesto Rodriguez of the Miami Beach police department. The black Porche was found a few blocks away and Quarless was allegedly found attempting to hide the weapon in a potted plant outside a bar.
A report of the incident was submitted matching rounds from the gun at the scene to a nearby parking garage, leading to Quarless being officially charged with a misdemeanor discharge of a firearm in public. No injuries were reported.
Quarless is entering his sixth season with the Packers, registering a career total of 85 catches and 909 yards with six touchdowns in 55 games. In 2014, Quarless had a total of 11 starts, catching 29 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was impressed with Quarless during mini-camp last month, noting his progress in his training and understanding of the game.
He was considered a major target for Rodgers in the upcoming regular season, but may be put on hold while the legal ramifications of his actions are played out. The NFL may discipline Quarless under the Personal Conduct Policy, pending the results of the charges. Should he not return in time for the start of the season, Richard Rodgers is the next man up on the Packers depth chart.
