2015 British Grand Prix Red Bull Preview

Round 9 takes us to Silverstone, the spiritual home of Formula One and Red Bull Racing’s second home race as they are based not so far from the circuit in Milton Keynes.

The fast sweeping bends of the circuit will always suit a car with great aero and mechanical balance, getting out of corners like Luffield, Club and Aintree are key to a good lap time.

Red Bull have always predominantly had a solid chassis as part of an Adrian Newey design concept, but while the RB11 is the final car designed by the legendary designer the Renault power unit is certainly up to scratch.

During the Austrian Grand Prix weekend it was noted that in the garage there was a display made to encourage the team to get to ‘mode 8’.

Ted Kravitz from Sky Sports F1 found out that this is meant to relate to the top power mode on Renault power unit.

So as well as Honda not running at full power it’s been noted that Renault are not either. This is not only worrying for the teams without Mercedes or Ferrari power, but for the sport as a whole as it is becoming very unfair through the regulations that Renault and Honda cannot get level with the competition.

Recently it came to light that despite rumours of being sacked Christian Horner has extended his contract with the team, so it does appear that team owner Dietrich Mateschitz does still have faith in Christian to help move the team forward.

Daniel Ricciardo will have fond memories of returning to Silverstone after finishing third last year while Sebastian Vettel fought with Fernando Alonso in the closing stages giving all of us a great thrilling battle to watch.

It will be a tough race, but I’m sure Red Bull will be looking to get the best result possible even if it means going on a different strategy.
