(St. Louis, MO, June 29, 2015) – The following is a press release from Saint Louis FC of the USL.
Midway through the 2015 USL season, Saint Louis FC has added forward Aaron Horton to the club’s roster. The STL FC roster now includes 27 players.
“Aaron is a player who has had success at the youth, collegiate, and professional levels of the game,” Head Coach Dale Schilly said. “He has great experience for a young player and will add depth to the team.”
Horton, 23, is a native of Lewis Center, Ohio and was a member of his hometown Columbus Crew from 2011-2013.
When he signed in 2011, Horton became the Crew’s first-ever “Homegrown” player, graduating from the club’s youth academy and eventually making it to the first team in MLS.
During his stint with the Crew, Horton also made loan appearances in USL PRO with the Dayton Dutch Lions and Orange County Blues FC.
Collegiately, Horton played one season with Louisville in 2010. He appeared in 23 games as a freshman, and was vital in the Cardinals’ run to their first appearance in the NCAA College Cup. Horton scored the game-winning goal in both Louisville’s quarterfinal win over UCLA and its semifinal victory over North Carolina.
