Bristol Academy Trio Sign Contracts – The following is a press release from Bristol Rugby
Andy Uren and Elias Caven (SGS Filton) and John Hawkins (Northampton Saints) sign their first professional contracts.
Scrum half Uren – who represented Clifton RFC last season – signs a one year deal, winger Elias Caven pens a two-year contract, while lock John Hawkins agrees a two year deal.
Academy Manager Mike Hall told bristolrugby.co.uk: “We’ve been working with Andy Uren since he was fourteen. Andy has shown excellent attributes over the past two seasons playing senior rugby.
“Elias Caven showed the potential he has last season scoring a hat trick versus Clifton RFC in a pre-season friendly and the winning try against Northampton Saints at Franklins Gardens in the Aviva A-League. Elias has an excellent skill set as well as being a devastating finisher.”
John Hawkins joins from Northampton Saints Elite Player Development Group squad. He captained Stowe School and Northampton Saints U18s last season and represented England versus Wales and France.
“John is a good lineout forward with a very high work rate. Everyone who has worked with him at age-group level – Dusty Hare at Saints and Peter Walton with England U18s – couldn’t speak highly enough of him.”
