Marincin, 23, has played 85 NHL games for the Oilers, and represented Slovakia at the 2014 Olympics. He’s known as a talented puck-moving defenceman, with a good upside. The Oilers have a wealth of left-handed defensive prospects, and as such Marincin was pushed to the side. As an RFA, the Leafs will likely be looking to sign him to a new contract soon.
Brad Ross is a young winger who spent the past three seasons moving between the AHL’s Toronto Marlies and Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL. He was suspended earlier this season for 20 games after testing positive for performance enhancing drugs.
The 107th pick originally belonged to Pittsburgh, before the Leafs acquired it in the Daniel Winnik trade at the deadline. Edmonton immediately flipped the pick to Ottawa, which they used to select American defenceman Christian Wolanin.
