The following is a Press Release from the Montreal Impact:
Impact Takes on the Union in Philadelphia Saturday
End to a sequence of three games in eight days, including two straight on the road
CHESTER, Pennsylvania – The Montreal Impact heads to Philadelphia to take on the Union on Saturday night, at 7pm (TVA Sports, TSN Radio 690, 98.5FM), in what will be the second of two consecutive games on the road in less than four days, and a third since last Saturday.
Following its loss in Toronto Wednesday, the Impact will try to rebound quickly at PPL Park.
“We need to forget this game and we have the opportunity to play,” said forward Dominic Oduro, who has four career goals in 12 games versus the Union. “We have to move on and hopefully get a win Saturday.”
“Everything we do, we need to do it as a unit, whether it’s attacking or defending,” said midfielder Dilly Duka. “On the road you want to limit the chances of the opponent and exploit all chances that you get.”
“Playing three games in a week is tough, so it will be important to manage the roster,” said defender Maxim Tissot, who will then join the Canadian National team for the CONCACAF Gold Cup. “Philadelphia is a team that has been looking for an identity, but has put in some good performances in recent weeks. Any team in this league is good at home and we are not going to take anything for granted.”
Striker CJ Sapong has been a bright spot for the Union, scoring six times in 2015, notably Wednesday night in a 1-0 win against Seattle, while French winger Sebastien Le Toux has amassed two goals and four assists this season. Former Impact number one overall SuperDraft pick Andrew Wenger has two assists after being moved out to the wing.
“Philly has a lot of good pieces even though they’ve struggled a bit,” added goalkeeper Evan Bush, who is currently fourth in the league with 53 saves this season. “They had some issues with their goalkeeping situation, which they seemed to have worked out, but we can’t underestimate them. They are going to throw everything at us and we have to be ready for that.”
The Impact has been able to get on the scoresheet often this season, with the goal scoring spread around. Three different Impact defenders have scored their first MLS career goals over the last three games, including Wandrille Lefèvre in New York, Donny Toia against Orlando City SC and Ambroise Oyongo in Toronto.
The Impact plays its next game at Stade Saputo on Saturday, July 4, at 8pm, against David Villa and New York City FC (TVA Sports, TSN Radio 690, 98.5FM). Tickets for kids under 16 are only $12 for any seat in the stadium.
