The Ottawa Senators have begun their offseason after the NHL Awards extending two top young performers and cornerstones of their future.
Senators’ Stone, Zibanejad Extended

Mark Stone really came into form in his first full season with the Senators, scoring 26 goals and netting 64 points to tie for first in point among rookies. He really came on in the last leg of the season however, scoring 11 goals and 25 points in the last 22 games, including four assists in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Mika Zibanejad is just 22 years old and showed some signs of young struggles, scoring just three goals and six points the first 21 games of the season. He eventually did find his niche as many Senators did, scoring 37 points the next four months and adding a goal and three assists in six playoff games.

Both of these players really came into their own under head coach Dave Cameron, and will likely contribute to many more future successes.
