BTCC is expected to burst back into life this weekend as the wheel-to-wheel racing heads to Croft circuit for the next round of the championship.
The main thing to look out for this weekend is the first appearance of Nic Hamilton who will take part in his first race weekend to see how he does door handle to door handle with Britain’s best Touring Car racers. It is sure to be an exciting weekend with another driver to add to the grid. The second interesting point to the weekend is sure to be the atmosphere between two of the BMW drivers after a coming together between Andy Priaulx and Rob Collard last time out. The interviews after the altercation suggested both blamed each other, but team boss Dick Bennett has placed the blame at Priaulx’ door, as does the rest of the BTCC community.
At the front of the field the battle is set to continue with the championship starting to heat up and the rest of the pack will be desperate for Jason Plato not to get away after looking dominant at Olton Park performances are needed from the other to make sure no further damage is inflicted to their title charge. Colin Turkington will be hoping to beat his team-mates this weekend and pick up where he left off at Croft last season where he put an extremely dominant display in and he needs wins as a poor showing at Olton put him 33 points behind first place.
Honda will be looking to overcome their frustrations at not winning at Olton behind them as well and with two fast drivers they would expect to be challenging this weekend. Other competitors are sure to be Andrew Jordan and Sam Tordoff, both of whom had strong weekends last time out and are finally starting to get the car to their liking they’re sure to have a say in results.
Croft always brings up good racing and with the ballast moved around could Turkington get on pole and follow in his footsteps from Olton? Will Plato pick up where he left off? Will Jordan get back to winning ways? Croft kicks off on Saturday with racing being at 12:00pm GMT on Sunday.
